@Oilerfan5 Well considering that Chinooks happen on average 30 to 35 times in the winter , not sure how they don’t count. Thats at least that many days where the weather is better in Calgary. Also Calgary has averages highs of -3 in January and Edmonton -9. Should I continue? I still think both places are too cold anyway which I why I no longer live there.
@Oilerfan5 Well for one Calgary gets chinooks which warms thing up, Edmonton doesn’t get them and Red Deer get the tail end of them. There can be 10 to 20 degree difference sometimes in the winter . Summers aren’t much different but if you have commuted regularly on Hwy 2 you know the difference in winter.
@josava1 Why not? Vancouver is not all that it is cracked up to be. I can’t see myself ever moving back there. My friend came out here but then moved back but he regrets it. I mostly moved here for work though and I wanted to get into the trades and the best place to go for that I think is Alberta. You make more here and you don’t pay as much either. As much is B.C. is all nice and pretty I couldn’t afford to do most things there anyway. So for me Edmonton is the better place to be.
@josava1 Ok also sask, alberta, and bc are the only have provinces, and it looks like within the next 5 years newfoundland will be to. the west should just break off from the rest of canada and save our money.
@lasda13 No your not. Take it from someone who is not from Alberta and has lived in both cities and no longer does(thank god) . Calgary is the place to be, just on weather alone, but all in all it’s a much better city if you had to make the choice to live. Sorry Edmonton!
@Y2INDIAN The weather in Toronto is not better than Vancouver or anywhere on the West Coast, are you kidding me? Toronto has more cultural things to do than Vancouver because it has alot more people, but if you like being outside and doing things outside,Vancouver is way more fun.

@josava1 chinooks dont count, sure it does warm things up a bit, but its considered the same as a thunderstorm. it comes, does its thing and leaves.
i been up and down qe 2 a lot in the winter and i dont see a difference. cept for this spring when calgary had snow in april

edmonton is further north, and calgary has a higher altitude. its the same weather!
calgary has a lower lows cuz of altitude and has slightly higher highs cuz of latitude, usually a 0-1 degree difference.
but calgary gets more snow
